Strategic IT Associates is a Columbus, Ohio based consulting firm dedicated to providing strategic technology consulting services to small and medium sized businesses.  These consulting services embrace and leverage the concepts and principles contained in the books IT is about the Strategy and IT Tactics written by Richard P. Skinner.  IT is not about the technology… quite often, IT is about the Strategy.

One of the fundamental principles embraced by Strategic IT Associates is that quite often business leadership does not know the difference between good IT and bad IT. It should be the responsibility of the business leadership to expect IT leadership to think and act strategically. While a tactical approach may seem to be working, the IT department is likely doing the wrong projects, buying the wrong technology, and hiring the wrong people.

If you do not have a strategic plan and a strategic destination… any technology will do. Without a vision or a blueprint there is no way to properly frame the myriad of technology decisions that face any IT organization. Without a cohesive approach to IT, decisions are made without regard to long term goals and principles. Don’t be stuck buying one off and point solutions. Embrace a strategy that can dictate a comprehensive cohesive solution set.
